Thermal baths in Hungary

Yes. The lake stays above 22 °C in winter and reaches 35 to 38 °C in summer, fed by a spring 38 m below the surface. Bathing is in the lake itself: the central bathhouse on the water has been closed since March 2025.

At most baths, yes, with limits. Egerszalók takes under-12s with an adult and keeps under-14s out of the medicinal pools and anything above 35 °C, Hajdúszoboszló and Harkány keep under-14s out of the medicinal pools without a prescription or treatment sheet, and Sárvár's sauna world is from 12. In Budapest, Rudas, Széchenyi, Lukács, Veli Bej and Dandár are 14 and over, while Palatinus, Paskál and Dagály take children but keep under-14s out of the thermal or medicinal pools without a doctor's prescription.

Bus 6355 runs from Keszthely to Hévíz bus station, and buses from Eger towards Demjén stop at Gyógyfürdő, about 700 m from the Egerszalók baths. In Miskolc, MVK bus 20 goes from Búza tér to the Miskolctapolca terminus. Hajdúszoboszló's bus station is 200 m from the spa, and direct buses from Budapest, Győr, Sopron and other towns stop 2 minutes' walk from the Sárvár baths.

Swimwear made for swimming, and nothing else. Hajdúszoboszló turns away street clothes as swimwear, Tamási rules out clothing and water shirts in its pools, and Miskolctapolca bans topless bathing and wants men's swim shorts to end above the knee. Széchenyi rules out leggings and underwear in the pools. Saunas are another matter: the sauna world at Lukács is swimsuit-free, and Brigetio's in Komárom is textile-free on Tuesdays and Sundays.

Yes. A covered passage links Eger Thermal Bath with the Turkish Bath next door, and the thermal bath sells an add-on ticket for one entry. The Turkish Bath also sells its own entry of two and a half hours, and in its three old pools radon medicinal water at about 30 °C rises through the stone floor.
