About Hagymatikum Gyógyfürdő
Its architect, Imre Makovecz, said that from the start he wanted to build "the one building that stood before mankind began." The bath says Makó's thermal water has been used for decades to ease the aches of heavy farm work. Inside, the cave pool has its own play of lights and closed-room acoustics, and a broad column carved with organic shapes, which also hides the ventilation, rises over the current pool. In the outdoor thermal pool and the indoor chess pool you can play chess in the water, and outside stands a Zsolnay drinking fountain by Makó-born designer Angéla Hofecker, shaped after Makovecz's Tree of Life.
