Csokonya Thermal
An oil-exploration well in 1943 struck 76 °C water from 1,800 m at Csokonyavisonta, and locals first bathed in it in a ditch from 1945. The alkaline hydrogen-carbonate water, weakly iodine and sulphur, now fills two indoor and two outdoor medicinal pools at 35 to 37 °C, with a salt room and saunas.

About Csokonya Thermal
The oil prospectors who struck the water were the Hungarian-American Oil Company, searching southern Somogy. The water was certified as medicinal in the early 1990s, and the bath was declared a medicinal spa in 2005. In the operator's comparison table it carries about five times the hydrogen carbonate of Hévíz's water and more than seventy times the iodide. The grounds cover 9.7 hectares and include a giant slide, and on night-bathing evenings bands play at the pools.
