Süleymaniye Hamamı
Mimar Sinan built this bath in the 1550s as part of Süleyman the Magnificent's mosque complex, and it's still heated by an oak-fired furnace under the marble. It closed in 1924 and reopened in 2004.

About Süleymaniye Hamamı
Sinan built the bath to the classic Ottoman three-part plan as part of the Süleymaniye mosque complex, now a UNESCO World Heritage site. In the hot room you lie for about half an hour on the heated marble göbek taşı, until a tellak calls you to the basin by the name of your hotel. Couples are scrubbed and soaped side by side, never in separate rooms. The visit ends in the cooling room with drinks.
