Hürrem Sultan Hamamı
Mimar Sinan designed this double bath for Hürrem Sultan in 1556 and 1557, between Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, on the site of the ancient Baths of Zeuxippus. It closed in 1910 and held prisoners and then carpets before restoration began in 2008; the men's and women's halls mirror each other along a 75 m axis.

About Hürrem Sultan Hamamı
The operator says a Temple of Zeus also once stood on the site. All the domes are covered in lead, and the dome over the cold room rises 24 m; after bathing, guests drink sherbet beneath it. The 2008 restoration, led by Kocaeli University's Faculty of Architecture, used 1,300 m² of Marmara marble. Part of the original heating system is on view in the warm room, and the hot room has gold-plated bowls for pouring cooling water from the basins.
