Spain's bathing traditions run from the balnearios, spa towns built around mineral springs in the interior, to the Arab baths revived in the old cities of Andalusia, and to Galicia, where Ourense's hot springs have been used since Roman times.

At Arnedillo in La Rioja, free pools on the bank of the Cidacos range from 38 to 48 °C, about 600 m from the village, and the Balneario de Arnedillo sells tickets to its outdoor thermal park.
