Thermal baths in Galicia

Galicia is the north-west corner of Spain, between the Atlantic and the Portuguese border, and its hot springs center on Ourense, an inland city on the Miño river. Water surfaces there at 60 °C and more, in the old town and through cracks in the granite along the Paseo Termal, a riverside path west of the Millennium Bridge. The city runs free open-air pools at As Burgas, beside the remains of a Roman bathhouse, and on the river at A Chavasqueira, Outariz and Burga de Canedo. Termas A Chavasqueira and Termas de Outariz are ticketed bathhouses built after the Japanese onsen. Toward the coast in Pontevedra province, Termas de Cuntis has indoor and outdoor pools of mineral water.
