Vita Classica-Therme

Bad Krozingen's thermal water was struck in 1911 at 580 m by drillers looking for oil, and now fills six indoor and three outdoor pools with over 1,300 m² of water at 29 to 36 °C. The operator says the water holds over 4,000 mg of minerals per litre and one of the highest carbon dioxide levels in Europe; the textile-free sauna area has nine saunas and a Japanese rest house built in Japan and opened in 2008.

About Vita Classica-Therme

The 1911 find was named the Nena spring, and water from the springs still comes up in a drinking fountain on the bath's lower floor, fizzing with carbon dioxide. Of the indoor halls, the Kuppelhalle has its pool under a dome, the Musikhalle plays music under water and the Dünenhalle has a North Sea backdrop. The Japanese rest house in the sauna garden was built of cedar in Japan, shipped over and fitted together without nails by Japanese and local carpenters, a sign of the town's spa partnership with Taketa and Naoiri. Master gardener Sato modelled the garden around it on the landscape near Taketa.
