FrankenTherme Bad Königshofen

A thermal bath with 1,259 m² of 30 to 34 °C pools filled with mineral medicinal water from Bad Königshofen's springs, a calcium-sodium-sulphate-chloride water first found in 1897 and again, as the Regius spring, in 1976. Since 2005 a 720 m² outdoor lake of chlorine-free Regius water, cleaned by plants, opens from late April to early October, and the Saunadorf has seven saunas in Franconian half-timbered huts.

About FrankenTherme Bad Königshofen

The 1897 spring turned up during a search for drinking water, and its high sulphate content puts it among the few bitter waters known in Germany. Regius water runs from the Lotus fountain in the foyer, made in 1999 by sculptor Peter Picciani of Ipthausen, from the flower cups down into bowl-shaped leaves. The operator says Finnish occupying troops brought sauna culture to Königshofen between 1631 and 1634, the first documented sauna in southern Germany by its account. In the Saunadorf the huts stand round a village fountain, and the Brauhaussauna holds an original brewing kettle.
