Thermal baths in Tuscia
Tuscia is the old name for the Etruscan lands north of Rome, used today for the province of Viterbo and the hills around it, from Lake Bolsena and the Cimini Mountains down to the Tuscia Romana between Tolfa and Lake Bracciano. The ground is volcanic: Lake Vico and Lake Bolsena fill old craters, and around Viterbo hot springs rise at 58 to 63 °C. On the plain west of the city, Bullicame and Piscine Carletti are free open-air pools, and Terme dei Papi, Terme Salus, Il Bagnaccio and Tuscia Terme sell tickets. Further out are Terme di Stigliano near Canale Monterano, Terme di Vulci at Canino and the summer park of Terme di Orte.
