About Il Bagnaccio
The springs here are sulfate-bicarbonate water, weakly sulfurous, and the park says they've been in use since the 3rd century BC. Pilgrims walking to Rome have stopped here for centuries, and they can still rest in the park free of charge: it's the first of Viterbo's thermal sites on the old route. Beside the spring, a garden made with the Università della Tuscia and Viterbo's Angelo Rambelli botanical garden conserves the local flora, with paths through a thermal habitat of rare plants and animals. The farm on the site sells organic produce grown there.
