Bastun i Jubileumsparken

A free public sauna for 25 people in Jubileumsparken in Frihamnen, first built as a prototype in 2015 with the Berlin collective Raumlabor and rebuilt identically in 2024, reusing the recycled facade panels. Next to it, one saltwater pool of the floating Hamnbadet, filled from the salt wedge of the Göta älv, stays open for dips through the winter.

About Bastun i Jubileumsparken

Gothenburgers have nicknamed it Svettekörka. The 2015 prototype was built with local residents as part of the city's run-up to its 400th anniversary, in the old harbour district of Frihamnen north of the centre, and a lift takes you up to the sauna room. The park around it, Jubileumsparken, won the Siena Prize from Sveriges Arkitekter for landscape architecture in 2019.
