Thermal baths in Swabian Alb
Also spelled Schwäbische Alb
The Swabian Alb is a limestone upland in Baden-Württemberg, about 220 km long, running southwest to northeast from the edge of the Black Forest, with the Danube along its southeastern side and a steep, wooded escarpment, the Albtrauf, on its northwestern edge. The limestone is full of caves, and the range has been a UNESCO Global Geopark since 2015. Its thermal baths sit at the foot of the escarpment and in its valleys, drawing water from as deep as 770 m: AlbThermen in Bad Urach, Panorama Therme Beuren and MineralTherme Bad Boll, ThermalBad Überkingen in the Fils valley near Geislingen, and Limes-Thermen above Aalen at the eastern end. Swimwear is for the thermal pools, and the sauna areas are textile-free.
