Terme Lendava
Oil workers drilling at Petišovci near Lendava in October 1965 struck hot water instead of oil, and the first proper thermal pool opened there in July 1968. The 62 °C sodium hydrogen carbonate water carries enough paraffin to turn it green, and it was declared a natural medicinal product in 1981.

About Terme Lendava
Before any hotel stood here, the oil workers set up an 8 by 4 metre pool at Petišovci in May 1966, and 14,000 bathers used it that year. By 1974 the pools were counting up to 80,000 bathers a year, and the first wing of the Lipa Hotel, the first modern hotel in Lendava, opened in December 1980. Hotel Lipa became a natural health resort in 1984, by the operator's account one of the smallest in Slovenia. The thermal pools now cover 1,849 m² at the foot of the Lendava vineyards, close to the borders with Hungary and Croatia.
