About Termy Uniejów
Survey work looking for oil and gas found this water in the late 1970s, though pumping only began in the 1990s. Bathers are second in line: the water first passes through heat exchangers for the town's heating network, and it reaches the pools only after cooling to about 50 °C. At about 35 °C it goes on to warm the turf of the football pitches in winter, then back underground to reheat. From the pools you look across to the park and a castle from the first half of the 14th century, itself heated with geothermal water. The town says it became Poland's first thermal spa resort in 2012.
