About Termy Cieplickie
Local legend credits the discovery of the Cieplice springs to Duke Bolesław the Tall, chasing a deer he had wounded in 1175, and in 1281 Duke Bernard handed the "Calidusfons" to the Knights of St. John. Queen Maria Kazimiera Sobieska arrived with her retinue on June 30, 1687, and the operator's list of later bathers includes Goethe and John Quincy Adams. The operator says the water holds more silica than any other spa water in Europe. Both thermal pools carry on through to the outside, so you can swim out in any season; most of the Zdrojowy pool, about 119 of its 176 m², lies outdoors.
