About Buxton Crescent Spa
The spa is built into the Natural Baths, which went up between 1851 and 1854 beside the Crescent, on the site of the original Roman bath. John Carr designed the Crescent itself in the 1780s for the fifth Duke of Devonshire, to house visitors drawn to Buxton by its waters, and it is now Grade I listed. Upstairs, the indoor pool carries on outside onto the roof, with two whirlpools, while the relaxation pool lies under a starry ceiling. St Ann's Well, fed with thermal spring water at 27.5 °C, stands next to the Crescent.
