About Vidago Palace Spa Termal
King Carlos I wanted a luxury spa resort with a name beyond Portugal, and the palace opened on 6 October 1910, the year the First Republic was declared. Its park still has an early 20th-century landscape of avenues, paths and ponds. Vidago's mineral water is drawn from deep catchments in granite and goes into the treatments: soaks in tubs at 36 to 42 °C, jet showers, and a drinking cure that usually lasts at least seven days. The hotel's guided tours, by appointment, include a short history talk and a water tasting at the spring.
