Oslo sits at the head of the Oslofjord in south-east Norway, with the city centre running down to the harbour. The saunas on this page float or stand on the waterfront at Bjørvika and Aker Brygge, all within walking distance of Oslo Central Station. Questions about Oslo
Is SALT in Oslo open?
No. SALT at Langkaia is closed after a fire-safety stop order from the city. KOK and Oslo Badstuforening are separate operators with floating saunas a short walk away, at Langkaia and Sukkerbiten.
Can children go to a floating sauna in Oslo?
Yes, with an adult. At KOK under-18s come with an adult who stays for the whole visit, and KOK doesn't sell tickets to under-18s. Oslo Badstuforening takes up to four children aged up to 14 per adult; at Sukkerbiten they must be able to swim, and life jackets can be borrowed.
Are there toilets at Oslo's floating saunas?
Not on KOK's saunas: the nearest are in the Deichman library by Langkaia or in restaurants at Aker Brygge. Oslo Badstuforening has a toilet on land about 60 m from the entrance, and the sauna master has the key.
Can you swim in the Oslofjord after heavy rain?
Both sauna operators advise waiting 24 hours. KOK passes on the city's advice not to bathe after rain of more than 1 mm an hour, and Oslo Badstuforening links the city's bathing-water readings and gives no refund on those days.
