Thermal baths around Lake Constance
Also spelled Bodensee
Lake Constance, the Bodensee, is the lake the Rhine runs through on its way out of the Alps: about 63 km long, with shores shared by Germany, Switzerland and Austria. The German side, along the north, is split between Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria. At Konstanz and Überlingen the baths draw mineral thermal water from about 660 and 700 m down, and at Überlingen, Meersburg and Lindau the sauna area opens onto the lake. Bodensee-Therme Konstanz faces the water from a glass hall, Bodensee-Therme Überlingen has its own gravel beach on the Überlinger See, Meersburg Therme sits on the town's promenade, and Therme Lindau stands on the mainland shore opposite Lindau's island old town, close to Bregenz.

Questions about Lake Constance
Are the saunas at the Lake Constance thermal baths textile-free?
Yes, at all four, with differences in the details. Bodensee-Therme Überlingen is textile-free and mixed every day, and Meersburg Therme dropped its Monday women's sauna, so it is mixed every day too. Bodensee-Therme Konstanz keeps Tuesday as women's sauna day across the whole sauna area, except on bank holidays and in Baden-Württemberg school holidays, and male staff may be present. At Therme Lindau swimwear comes off in the sauna area but a towel may cover you while you sweat, and one Finnish sauna runs separately for women and for men; Lindau and Meersburg also have a textile sauna and steam bath in the swimwear area.
Can you swim in Lake Constance from the thermal baths?
Yes, at Überlingen, Meersburg and Lindau. Bodensee-Therme Überlingen has a gravel beach on its 200 m of shore, with lake swimming at set supervised times, and from its sauna garden with no time limit.
