Bodensee-Therme Konstanz

About Bodensee-Therme Konstanz

The 1890 lido was rebuilt in 1975 as the Freizeitbad Jakob, which locals called the 'Jaköble', and the Stuttgart practice 4a won the 1998 competition for its replacement. Its wings are shaped like timber-planked ship hulls: the sauna block is the 'mother ship', with a bow that juts 19 metres out and a sun deck with a white railing on the roof, and a 2014 extension lies alongside it as the 'dinghy', reached by a covered gangway. The spring water reaches the surface at 26.5 °C, a sodium bicarbonate water with fluoride. In the steam bath, the glass walls carry a panorama photograph of the Konstanzer Trichter by Achim Mende.
