About Silber-Therme Warmbad

Warmbad first appears in writing on 9 May 1484, as "warmbate zu wulkenstein", and the operator thinks miners probably struck the spring while digging. In 1571 the Freiberg mine master Martin Planer was sent to secure and repair it, and a protected zone was declared around the spring. Electress Magdalena Sybilla of Saxony took the cure here in 1670 and 1671, and from 1949 the place ran as a sanatorium for Wismut miners. You can taste the water at the drinking fountain in the foyer.
