Aïga Resort Thermal & Spa

The thermal spa of Aïga Resort in Châtel-Guyon, a thermal complex in the Volcans d'Auvergne regional park, sells a half-day pass to its pools to non-residents. The 150 m² pool is filled with Châtel-Guyon thermal water, which the operator says is the richest in Europe in magnesium, and has swan-neck jets, a counter-current lane and submerged loungers, with an outdoor whirlpool and two hammams beside it.

About Aïga Resort Thermal & Spa

The water comes from several springs in Châtel-Guyon that share the same calcium chloride-bicarbonate make-up but differ slightly in temperature and strength, and it carries a lot of silicon as well as magnesium. It can't be carried elsewhere: in contact with the air its natural CO2 escapes and the carbonates settle out, so it's used on the spot, soon after it rises. The spa has seven massage rooms, one with a bed of warm quartz sand, and 19 cabins for baths, showers and wraps. The resort's 90 apartments connect directly to the spa.
