About Hermannbad
The Hermannbad opened in 1908 as the replacement for the city's shower bath on Mondscheingasse, built from 1887 to 1890, which the city calls the first of its kind in Europe. Hermanngasse, the street it stands on, has been named since 1824 after Hermann Gaunersdorfer, a priest and chancery director of the Schottenstift. Beside the sauna, the shower bath still has its single shower stalls, for washing only.
