Swimming in Villasimius
The south-east corner of Sardinia ends at the Capo Carbonara headland, and Villasimius lies about 4 km north of it, about 35 km east of Cagliari. Porto Giunco is a bar of pale sand between the sea and the Notteri lagoon, where flamingos feed, inside the Capo Carbonara marine protected area. Licensed boats and dive centres take visitors out to snorkel and dive in the reserve, around the island of Cavoli.
