Swimming in Villefranche-sur-Mer
Villefranche-sur-Mer wraps round a deep bay about 4 km east of the centre of Nice, closed off on its eastern side by the Cap Ferrat peninsula. Plage des Marinières runs along that bay below the railway station, a long gravel beach facing the cape. A few minutes' walk south-west, the Citadelle Saint-Elme holds the town's museums, and the vaulted Rue Obscure runs under the houses of the old town.
