Swimming in La Ciotat
La Ciotat lies on its own bay between Cassis and the Var coast, about 23 km east of Marseille. Just south of the centre, Figuerolles is a pebble cove in puddingstone cliffs and the Mugel has two beaches below the Bec de l'Aigle headland. From the old port, a shuttle boat crosses in about ten minutes to the Île Verte, about 1 km off the Mugel, where a path loops round the island.
