Swimming in Cassis
Cassis is a port town about 16 km east of Marseille, between the Calanques massif and the cliffs of Cap Canaille. The Grande Mer beach sits beside the fishing harbour in the town centre and the Bestouan on the west side of town; beyond it Port-Miou, a long inlet lined with moorings where people swim from the rocks, starts the footpaths into the national park to Port-Pin and the narrow inlet of En-Vau. East of town, the Route des Crêtes climbs over Cap Canaille towards La Ciotat, with lookouts along the cliff top.
