Thermal baths in Zagorje
Hrvatsko Zagorje, "beyond the hills", is the hill country north of Zagreb, cut off from the capital by the Medvednica range and running up to the Slovenian border. Warm springs rise under it, and several of its towns carry Toplice, from the word for warm, in their names. On the north side of Medvednica, Stubičke Toplice has water that reaches 61.4 °C at the spring, piped to the covered pool of Hotel Wrello, and Terme Jezerčica in Donja Stubica runs a thermal water park. Further north-west, Aquae Vivae at Krapinske Toplice and Terme Tuhelj's Water Planet, by Mihanović Castle in Tuheljske Toplice, are thermal water parks with slides.

Aquae Vivae opened on 21 March 2015 with five indoor pools and one outdoor pool, all filled with thermomineral water from the 41 °C springs of Krapinske Toplice.
Stubičke Toplice thermal pools (Hotel Wrello)

The thermal water at Stubičke Toplice reaches 61.4 °C at the spring and has been analysed since 1772; the operator says it is paleo water more than 40,000 years old, filtered through the Medvednica hills.

Is there a thermal water park in Zagorje?
Yes, Aquae Vivae, Terme Tuhelj and Terme Jezerčica all fill their slides and pools with thermal water. Aquae Vivae in Krapinske Toplice has a wave pool, a 4.5 m diving pool and a 60 m indoor slide. Terme Tuhelj's Water Planet has slides and two water play areas for children, and Terme Jezerčica's indoor park has two large whirlpools.
Which Zagorje thermal spas are open in winter?
All four have covered pools, but the outdoor ones close. Terme Jezerčica's indoor park is open all year, while its outdoor water park closed for 2026 on 8 October. Aquae Vivae has five indoor pools.
