About Banský termálny kúpeľ, Kúpele Sklené Teplice (Mining Thermal Bath)
The village takes its name from a glassworks set up around 1350, which the spa calls the first in the Kingdom of Hungary. When the Lippay family died out at the end of the 17th century the spa passed to the state, and the Mining Office in Banská Štiavnica did much to build its bath houses and put the springs to medical use. In 1866 the master mason Jozef Gasparetz bought the spa, and his family owned it until the Beneš decrees, when it was expropriated for the state. Deep boreholes and wells down to 1,600 m are used besides the springs. At set times the Mining Bath's pool is given over to group and individual therapeutic exercise.
