Thermal baths in Serbia
Serbia's spa towns, many with banja, the word for bath, in their names, grew up around thermal springs from Fruška Gora in Vojvodina to the mountains of the south, where more than thirty springs at Lukovska Banja on the slopes of Kopaonik reach 68 °C. Roman soldiers rested at the springs, and Serbian rulers came to bathe at Sokobanja. Many spas combine medical treatment with pools and wellness centers that sell day tickets.

Is there a geyser in Serbia?
Yes, in Sijarinska Banja in the Jablanica valley, where a geyser broke out during drilling in October 1954 at 71 °C and throws a column of water about 8 m high. The Gejzer pools around it include a thermal-water pool and children's pools with slides, and the same hospital's Sijarina Spa Centar sells non-guests a 180-minute Roman bath ticket to its mineral-water pool and saunas.
Which Serbian spas have outdoor thermal pools?
Ribarska Banja on the Jastrebac mountain fills its open-air pools with the spa's thermal water and runs night bathing in them in summer. Terme Ždrelo has five outdoor pools, Termal Vrdnik an Olympic outdoor pool, and Soko Terme and Hotel Kopaonik in Lukovska Banja one each, while the three outdoor pools at Vrnjačke Terme open in summer only.
Do you need your own towel at Serbian thermal baths?
Often, yes. Soko Terme requires a towel and slippers, and at Vrnjačke Terme visitors from outside the hotel bring their own towels, slippers and bathrobes. Terme Ždrelo hires towels.
Can children use the thermal pools in Serbia?
Yes, and most baths have a child price. At Vrnjačke Terme under-16s use the pools only with a parent or guardian. Children under 3 go free at Soko Terme and Termal Vrdnik, and under 2 at Vrnjačke Terme, while Banja Kanjiža charges the child price up to 18. Gamzigradska Banja has a children's pool beside the adults' one, and the Gejzer pools in Sijarinska Banja have children's pools with slides.
Can you get to Vrdnik by bus?
