Thermal baths in Monsummano Terme
About 25 km east of Lucca and 40 km west of Florence, Monsummano Terme is a town in northern Tuscany. Just east of the centre, the Grotta Giusti resort has a warm cave you walk through to an underground lake, and an outdoor pool of spring water. In neighbouring Montecatini Terme, a funicular railway carries you up to the hilltop village of Montecatini Alto, about 5 km away.
