Thermal baths in Wiesbaden
Wiesbaden, the capital of Hesse, lies on the Rhine opposite Mainz at the southern foot of the Taunus hills, about 30 km west of Frankfurt. The Kaiser-Friedrich-Therme is a city bathhouse with an Irish-Roman sequence of warm rooms, steam baths and seat pools. About 1.5 km north-west, the Nerobergbahn funicular, still worked by water ballast, climbs the Neroberg above the city.
