Swimming in Maspalomas

On the south coast of Gran Canaria, about 27 km south-west of the island's airport, Maspalomas is a resort town. Playa de Maspalomas runs east from the lighthouse towards Playa del Inglés, with the protected dune field directly behind the sand. About 1 km west, beside the lighthouse, La Charca is a lagoon in the same reserve where birds nest among the reeds.
