Questions about Mallorca

Can you swim in Mallorca in October?

Yes. The sea around Mallorca is typically about 22 °C in October and 19 °C in November, after 25 °C in September. The swimming season runs from June to November.

Can you drive to Formentor beach and Cala Deià in summer?

Only until the car parks fill. From 15 May to 18 October 2026 private cars can reach the Formentor beach car park only while it has space, and the Consell de Mallorca recommends TIB bus 334 instead; summer boats also cross from Port de Pollença and Port d'Alcúdia. At Cala Deià the road down from the Ma-10 closes to cars when the cove car park is full, and the fallback is a 1.5 km walk from Deià village, where TIB line 203 stops.

How do you get to Caló des Moro?

On foot: no road reaches the cove. Santanyí points visitors to the free car park at the entrance to Cala Llombards, about 1.5 km from the cove through the houses of Sa Comuna, and the last stretch down to the water is over rock.

What are the rules on Mallorca's protected beaches?

At Es Trenc, inside the Es Trenc-Salobrar de Campos natural park, dogs are banned from the beach from March to October and boats may not anchor on the seagrass. Mondragó Natural Park bans fishing along its coast and dogs on its beaches. At Sa Calobra the Torrent de Pareis is a natural monument, and taking pebbles or any stone is banned.
