Swimming in Varkiza

Varkiza lies on the Saronic Gulf below the inland town of Vari, about 25 minutes by road from Athens airport. Varkiza Beach is a long sand bay with a free public end, and Limanakia is a string of rocky coves you reach on foot from the road towards Vouliagmeni. Fishermen sell the morning catch at the small harbour, and a seafront walk runs from the square to the harbours of Vouliagmeni, about 3 km.
