Swimming in Stavros

Stavros sits at the northern tip of the Akrotiri peninsula, about 10 km north-east of Chania and 8 km from the airport. Its sandy beach lies beside a small fishing harbour, under the mountain that rises behind the village. From Gouverneto monastery, about 4 km east, a path goes down past a cave chapel to the Katholiko monastery in about 20 minutes.
